Curtis Bay Medical Waste Services was conceived, designed and built in cooperation with members of the Maryland Hospital Association in 1991 to provide a regional solution to the medical waste management requirements with the goal of building a facility to provide local specialty waste services and eliminating the need for each facility to provide their own incineration services.

Jack Perko, CEO
Mr. Jack Perko was named Chief Executive Officer and President in May 2016 at Curtis Bay Medical Waste Service, a leading regulated medical waste (RMW) disposal company serving a growing number of leading hospitals and health care providers across the East Coast Region. He has over 25 years of experience in the environmental services sector, having held leadership positions at the industry’s largest waste services companies in the US and Australia.
Prior to Curtis Bay, he was a Managing Director of Cleanaway Waste Management LTD, Australia’s largest, publicly traded waste management company with over 4,000 employees, 200 locations and $1 billion in annualized trading. For over 20 years with Republic Services and Allied Waste, Mr. Perko held senior leadership positions across the East, South and Midwest regions in the US. While at Republic Services and Allied Waste, he successfully developed and executed on business plans and market-based strategies, led several acquisition integrations, built and managed new regional teams, and earned recognition for safety and performance results. He was responsible for Republic Services’ operations in the East, which covered 16 states and Puerto Rico, employed 9,200 people and generated annualized revenue of US$2.6 billion. He served as Region President of Southern Region at Republic Services, Inc., and served as its Senior Vice President of Operations - Southern Region since August 24, 2012. He served as Senior Vice President of Operations - Midwest Region at Republic Services, Inc. from 2010 to August 24, 2012. Mr. Perko served as Senior Vice President of Operations - Midwest Region at Republic Services, Inc and as President of Republic Services of North Carolina, LLC.
Mr. Perko holds a Master of Science in Business Management from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida. He is known for the family oriented work environment he creates and his keen eye to detail. Mr. Perko’s focus at Curtis Bay is on compliance, operational efficiencies and continuous growth.
Greg Hamilton, CFO
Mr. Greg Hamilton, with over 24 years of experience, was named the CFO in February of 2016 at Curtis Bay Medical Waste Services, a leading regulated medical waste (RMW) disposal company serving a growing number of leading hospitals and health care providers across the East Coast Region. Prior to joining Curtis Bay Medical Waste Services, he served as the CFO and Corporate Secretary at Santek Waste Services, a solid waste company serving ten states, where he was instrumental in more than doubling the size of the company over a span of five years, closing multiple negotiations and financing over $200 million of business for the company. Prior to Santek, Mr. Hamilton was a member of the corporate finance team at Sears Holdings Corporation where he was responsible for the south region encompassing sixteen states. He worked in the $2.5B services contract portfolio, including 75 business units and merchandise delivery operations, in addition to managing the division capital budget nationally.
With a very diverse background including years of experience in the healthcare industry, retail industry and waste services industry, Mr. Hamilton was selected to participate in the Sears Leadership Training Program, “Leadership Insights” in 2002, was awarded a Green Belt in Six Sigma in 2003, and selected as a Peer Solicitor for Sears PAC in 2002. Mr. Hamilton has been recognized as a Presidential Scholar and an inductee into Phi Beta Lambda and Phi Kappa Phi. He has also done voluntary work for United Way, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and the YMCA among others.
Mr. Hamilton holds a MBA from Tennessee Technological University and a bachelor’s degree from Lee University and has completed Doctoral work. He is best known for his servant leadership style, team-oriented focus, and results-oriented approach to business management.
Allen Ruttenberg, VP of Sales & Marketing
Mr. Allen Ruttenberg joined the Curtis Bay Medical Waste Services team in July 2016 as the Mid Atlantic District Manager focused on the overall leadership of Sales and Operations in the Virginia, North & South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee region. In February 2018 he stepped into the Vice President of Sales and Marketing role to lead the Marketing, Inside Sales, Key Regional Accounts, and New Product Development teams as well as develop strategies that will motivate and drive success. With over 18 years of experience in the environmental services sector, Mr. Ruttenberg has held leadership roles at some of the industry’s largest waste services companies.
Prior to Curtis Bay, Mr. Ruttenberg was an East Region Director for Republic Services which covered 16 states and Puerto Rico, and had direct leadership of Municipal Services generating over $700 million in annualized revenue. He also served as Area Sales Manager for Republic Services in the North-East Region, including responsibility for overall growth in Commercial, Industrial and Municipal lines of business covering 7 States and generating $450 million in annual revenue.
He is best known for his ability to drive profitable results through team building, market segmentation, strategic selling and designing customer facing programs to create a one-of-a-kind customer experience. Allen’s current focus at Curtis Bay is driving organic growth, expanding service offerings and enhancing customer experience. Mr. Ruttenberg holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Psychology from Washington and Jefferson College in Pennsylvania and a Six Sigma Certification from Villanova University. Allen currently lives in Charlotte, NC with his Wife and 2 children.
